The woman, whose body was recovered from the Upper Kotmale Reservoir recently, is reported to have been murdered, the Police said.
According to NewsFirst, the Police had revealed that the deceased is a 28-year-old mother of two residing in Torington Estate in Agarapathana.
The husband of the woman has been arrested on suspicion over the murder.
The body of the woman was recovered from the Upper Kotmale Reservoir on Thursday (25), and it was initially assumed that she had died by suicide.
However, further investigations have revealed that the woman had not died by suicide, but had been murdered.
The Police said the woman had died after being attacked by her husband over a family dispute.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the husband had thereafter dumped her body in the Upper Kotmale Reservoir.
