Request made to increase Gas prices

Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena has said that the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has received requests to increase the LP gas prices by Rs. 700.

He also said that the approval has not yet been given for a price revision and a 5-member committee has been appoint to study the global gas prices.

Meanwhile, the two domestic gas suppliers in the country have also commented on the need to increase the gas prices.

Chairman of Laughs gas limited, W. K Wegapitiya has said that according to the world market prices in the months of March and April, the domestic gas cylinder prices should be increased by at least Rs 540.
