Three people from the same family have died in Muruthalawa area in Peradeniya, after being contacted with Covid-19.
The deceased are 72-year-old Father, 70-year-old Mother and their 38-year-old son. It is reported that all three of them have had breathing difficulties from time to time.
However, they have succumbed to complications of the virus while being treated at hospital.
Apart from the deceased, another 3 members of the same family have also contracted the covid 19 virus and are currently being treated at the Panideniya Covid treatment center.
Spokesman for the ministry of health, Dr. Hemantha Herath said the following, commenting about this incident.
“We need to definitely investigate how 3 from the same family died like this. We need to see if all relevant parties, like the government, health authorities and the concerned family had taken all steps which should have been taken to prevent this tragedy. We can prevent similar scenarios in the future, if we can take relevant steps based on the investigation” he said.
