CID reveals top businessman murdered in 2017, youngest son arrested

The Police have arrested the youngest son of late businessman Shabbir Abbas Gulamhusein, over his father’s murder in 2017.

Top businessman Shabbir Abbas Gulamhusein was found dead inside his office premises in Colombo in 2017.

His funeral was conducted after reporting it as a natural death.

However, the Police had received a complaint on the16th of August 2018 stating that the death was suspicious.

Following a lengthy investigation, it was revealed that Shabbir Abbas Gulamhusein had not died of natural causes, but had been murdered by strangulation, the Police spokesman said issuing a statement today.

The CID has arrested the 37-year-old son of the businessman in connection with the murder.

The victim was the owner of 9 companies including AdamExpo Ltd.

The suspect, who is the youngest son of the businessman, was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today and was remanded till the 23rd of September.
