Two Nigerian nationals have been arrested from Dehiwala area in connection with an online financial scam.
Police say that the suspects have been apprehended following a complaint received to the Police cyber crimes division.
These suspects have reportedly sent WhatsApp messages to a female saying that she has won a prize. They have later requested the woman to deposit a large amount of money in order to claim the prize.
Police spokesman SSP Nihal Thanduwa said that the suspects have been remanded till 24th of September, after producing them to courts. He also requested public to be vigilant about these online scams and not fall prey to them.
