Cambodia bans telecast of LTTE “Methagu” film

The Kingdom of Cambodia has banned the telecast of ‘Methagu’ Tamil movie that follows the life of the leader of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), Velupillai Prabhakaran following a request from Sri Lanka.

The Cambodian Ministry of Information has requested all TV station owners to ban the broadcast of the movie “Methagu” in the programs of cable TV and all kinds of TV stations.

In a statement concerning the ban, The Ministry of Information says:

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has received a request from Sri Lanka to request the Kingdom of Cambodia to help prevent the broadcast of Methagu, which reflects the life of the former terrorist organization Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (ETTE). Directed by Velupillai Prabhakaran and produced by the Tamil Eelam Film Society, which identifies ETTE as one of the most brutal terrorist organizations in the world.”

The film was released this year and claims to show ‘the true events that happened in Tamileelam’
