Govt relaxes COVID entry regulations to Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has eased a few Covid regulations pertaining to people arriving from overseas.

The Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena announced that the mandatory requirement of producing a Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate to enter the country has been lifted.

Dr. Asela Gunawardena said that producing the Covid vaccination after arriving from overseas will be removed from today for any person arriving in Sri Lanka via any airport or seaport.

He further said that the mandatory regulation to produce a pre-boarding or on-arrival negative COVID-19 test (PCR/RAT) by any person arriving in Sri Lanka from overseas has also been removed from today.

However, foreign nationals or tourists arriving from overseas who test positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Sri Lanka will be required to isolate for a period of 7 days at a private hospital/hotel/place of residence.

Dr. Asela Gunawarden said that the cost of treatment/isolation should be borne by foreign nationals/tourists.
