Dengue : Highest number of cases detected in Gampaha district

The Gampaha District in the Western Province has been identified as a high-risk area for dengue, reporting over 8000 dengue cases to date this year.

Colombo has also been declared a high-risk area for dengue reporting over 7,500 dengue cases, while nearly 2000 dengue cases have been detected in the Kalutara District.

According to the National Dengue Control Unit, 23 dengue-related deaths have been reported so far this year in Sri Lanka.

The Unit stated that 57 MOH Divisions across the country have been declared as high-risk areas for dengue, as of last week.

The public has been requested to seek immediate medical attention if they are found to be suffering from fever for 2 days or over 48 hours.
