President Muizzu formally announces Indian troops’ withdrawal date from Maldive

Malé: Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, in what reflects his commitment to meeting the desires of the Maldivian people, has formally announced the withdrawal of Indian troops from the island nation by May 10.

Accordig to Kashmir Media Service, President Muizzu, perceived as pro-China, in his inaugural address to the parliament underscored his administration’s commitment to fulfilling the desires of Maldivians by removing foreign military presence and reclaiming lost oceanic territory.

The decision follows Muizzu’s formal call to India to withdraw its military personnel by March 15, citing a strong mandate from the Maldivian populace.

Muizzu’s announcement marks a pivotal moment in the diplomatic relations between the Maldives and India.
