Angelo Mathews returns, available for selection

Sri Lanka star cricketer Angelo Mathews has informed Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) that he is available for selection for upcoming cricket tournaments, NewsWire learns.

Mathews had taken a short break from international cricket from July 2021, while according to sources, he had also informed the SLC at the time that he is considering retirement from the sport.

However, according to sources from the SLC, Mathews has informed the cricket administration yesterday that he is available for selection.

Angelo Mathews is Sri Lanka’s most senior batsman, and although he is unavailable for the upcoming Twenty-20 cricket World Cup, he is hoping to play in Sri Lanka’s next Test series.

Sri Lanka is set to play the next Test series against the West Indies which has been scheduled to be held in November.

Angelo Mathews will play in the upcoming Lanka Premier League 2021 as well.

He is also set to play for the Colts Cricket Club (CCC) in the upcoming domestic season, which will commence on the 27th of October.
