Rahul blames IIOJK regime for ‘big security breach’ in IIOJK, calls off walk

Srinagar, January 27 (KMS): Congress leader and Member of Indian Parliament Rahul Gandhi Friday blamed the local chapter of Delhi-led Modi regime for “a big security lapse at Jawahar Tunnel” stating that police were missing to control the crowd.

Rahul addressing a press conference at Khanabal, Islamabad district, said, “When we crossed Jawahar Tunnel, there was a huge crowd for my reception. But there was not a single police man to manage or control the crowd. My security guards advised me not to go ahead.”

“It is very difficult for me to go against what my security guards advise me.”

Rahul Gandhi said he had to cancel his walk for the day because police arrangements unfortunately “completely collapsed”.

Police personnel who were supposed to manage the crowd were nowhere to be seen, the former Congress president told reporters in Islamabad town.

“It’s the Jammu and Kashmir administration’s responsibility to provide security… I hope security will now be ensured for remaining days of the yatra,” Gandhi, who started his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Kanyakumari in September and ends it in Srinagar on January 30, said.

“I had to call off my walk because I can’t go against my security people,” the Congress leader said.

His party colleague Jairam Ramesh added that Gandhi’s security team is holding discussions with the administration to ensure that everything goes off smoothly for the next few days.
